Opened in 1998 the museum “Saxon House” in the village Livezile presents to the public essential aspects of the Saxon civilization in the area of Bistrita.
The Museum “Saxon house” Livezile was set up taking into account the objects’ collection of Ioan Rusu from Livezile. It is a complete household: house, barn, stables, all with Saxon character both in the architecture of the house and exhibition way of the household annexes.
We tried to recompose the Saxon interior from the past in three different rooms. Besides the traditional costumes of the collection, a special place was intended for the webs with decoration function (wall-cloths, towels, table-cloths, bed-cloths), wooden objects, household objects, handicraft objects, furniture painted in Saxon style (benches, table, stands, beds, closets), ceramic objects (oven made out of terracotta tiles).
The barn and the two stables shelter exponents grouped according to functional categories: “guillotine” for chopping beet, mills for the grain, grape crushers, tools, installations for the house-industry: spin-wheels, swingles, spinning-machines.
